Johannes Grewe of Keene, California, operates a law enforcement K-9 consulting business. He is a former West German Police Officer and K-9 handler. In Germany, Johannes was a SV Schutzhund Judge from 1974 to 1981. In 1981 Johannes, his wife and their three children immigrated to the United States.
He has been a member of the United Schutzhund Clubs of America since 1981 and has held offices on local, regional and national level. Johannes became USA’s first Conformation Judge in 1997 and was appointed breed survey judge in 2002. Johannes also became a Schutzhund Judge in the US in 2003. He served for 4 years as USA’s National Breed Warden.
Johannes has trained and titled a very large number of Schutzhund and Police Service dogs. Since 1994 alone, Johannes has trained and titled 20 dogs with a total of 35 titles. He competed in the North American Championship, in 3 EUSV European Champion Ships and the first WUSV World Champion Ship. Johannes has earned the USA Gold Sports Medal.
Johannes began breeding in Germany in 1970 under his SV registered kennel name “von den weissen Bergen.” Eight dogs from his breeding under this name were breed surveyed. In 1972 Johannes was recognized by the SV as a Youth Dog Evaluator.
In 1990, Johannes registered “vom Sunland” with USA and began breeding in the US. Under this kennel name, Johannes bred a total of 26 breed surveyed dogs, 21 in KKL 1 and 5 in KKL 2. Eleven of these dogs received the rating of excellent. Johannes has been a Breed Warden in Germany and also in the USA. Johannes has earned the USA Breeders Medal in Gold.
Besides the long list of local and regional show achievements he participated in several SV Sieger Shows and attended almost all USA Sieger Shows either as a participant or as an official. Johannes’s achievements in USA Sieger Shows are Sieger and Siegerin of the working dog classes with the title of VA, one more working dog female with VA, two dogs with V rating and several sieger titles in the younger classes
Johannes has organized 4 Sieger Shows, Regional Shows, Local Shows and many Breed Surveys. Johannes’s judging experience includes: Local Trials, Regional Trials, Local Shows, Regional Shows, 4 USA Sieger Shows as well as assignments in China, Canada, Venezuela, Chile and Philippines.
